You read City Limits because you want to know what goes on in New York. And you want to know more than the best places for brunch. People like you believe a better New York is possible. And you believe nuanced, compassionate reporting will help us get there. That’s what we do. We need your support to do more of it in 2015.

Saturday’s rally and march against police killings covered some 12 miles–the most dedicated walkers continued all the way to Crown Heights–and involved at least 25,000 people. For marchers and police officers along the route, what they experienced depended on where they were along that route over some 10 hours. Some saw marchers handing their phones to a cop and asking the officer to take their photo. Others witnessed a line of helmet-clad officers watching stone-faced as a crowd shouted at them outside One Police Plaza. A few witnessed the confrontation on the Brooklyn Bridge.
