The police are seeking the public’s help in finding two armed robbers who posed as city workers to break into an apartment building on East Mosholu Parkway in May. Police say one of the impostors is about 50 years old and 5-foot 8-inches tall with a slight build. The other is said to be in his 40s, bald and 5-foot 7-inches with tall a stocky build. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
A program called Milk from the Heart is distributing fresh milk to needy families for free. The program makes weekly drops at 16 street locations in Manhattan and three in the Bronx.
A Bronx stay at home dad, Shannon Ortiz, was fatally shot in Claremont last night. So far there has not been any arrests.
Yesterday afternoon, a Bronx woman jumped off a ferry to the Statue of Liberty. The boat crew was able to quickly pull her to safety, but she’s been taken to Beth Israel for observation.
This weekend was the 6th Annual Gardiner Memorial Basketball Classic Tournament in St. James Park. At the tournament, the Gardiner Foundation gave away 100 book bags and five $1,500 scholarships to local kids. The foundation was founded by Dexter Gardiner, in memory of the loss of six of his family members in a horrific car accident on the Bronx River Parkway. His foundation has started a community outreach initiative that offers educational scholarships, financial support, emotional and spiritual guidance and burial assistance to other families in the community who have suffered a sudden and tragic loss.
