FYI: There have been 212 reports of hate crime attacks on homeless people around the country in the last four years, including 123 murders, according to a report from the National Coalition for the Homeless. The group has tracked homeless hate crime reports in annual reports since 1999. The report ranked New York City as the fifth “most dangerous” city for homeless people, based on a formula that assigns cities a point for each non-lethal attack and two points for each murder. The group found eight separate attacks in New York City, three of which were lethal. [4/22/03]
