City Limits is accepting applications through January 8 for the winter-spring session of its Bronx Investigative Internship Program. This is the fourth session of this initiative, which is sponsored by the Simon Bolivar Foundation and targeted at high-school students, college students and other young adults under age 23 who reside in the Bronx.

The 10-week internship teaches students the basics of investigative reporting as they hone those skills by working on an actual investigation. (Last year, students investigated the prevalence of fast-food restaurants near high schools and barriers to exercise in the Bronx).

Students spend four hours each week in team sessions (Monday and Wednesday nights, 4-6 p.m.) and are expected to devote up to six hours of their own time to reporting tasks like doing research, conducting interviews or attending events. Applicants must have an interest in journalism, decent writing schools and the ability to commit to 20 team sessions and 100 hours of work over 10 weeks.
