Brooklyn Councilmember Jumaane Williams had a busy few days before he came on the set of BRIC-TV’s daily news and culture show, 112BK. He was arrested protesting the detention of a leading immigration-rights advocate, raised questions about the use of force during that arrest, and indicated he’s considering a run for lieutenant governor–a post that might have a low profile but is where three of our past seven governors sat before rising to the top chair. After that, I met with fellow Village Voice alum Tom Robbins (also a predecessor as editor of City Limits) to talk about our friend Wayne Barrett, who died a year ago Friday. We discuss his incredible commitment to truth-telling and the reporting initiative that has been launched to carry on his mission.

Finally, I offer a top five list of ways Jets and Giants fans can survive and maybe even enjoy the last three weeks of what for them has been a disappointing NFL season. (Spoiler alert: I don’t dislike soccer as much as I let on.)
