Upcoming Housing and Land Use-Related Events
- July 14th, 1 to 3 p.m.: NYC’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development, Brooklyn Councilmember Shahana Hanif and Heights and Hills will host a resource fair for tenants with information on rent protections, affordable housing lotteries and housing discrimination. [More here]
- July 16th, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: The Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club will lead this “Gowanus Watermark Walk” discussing the impact of Superstorm Sandy’s flooding on the Gowanus Canal and the future of the neighborhood’s shoreline. [More here]
- July 16th, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Organized by The Waterfront Alliance, the 16th annual City of Water Day will feature events throughout the boroughs focused on coastal resiliency. [More here]
- July 17, 3:30 p.m.: Rally and March for Homeless Rights, to take place in Carl Schurz Park at 86th Street and East End Avenue, part of ongoing events marking July as Homeless Rights’ Month. [More here]
- July 19th, 9:30 a.m.: The city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission will hold a public hearing on the possibility of landmarking 14 different properties. [More here]
NYC Affordable Housing Lotteries Ending Soon
The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development is closing lotteries on the following subsidized buildings over the next week:
- 469 Convent Ave., Manhattan, for households earning between $84,138 – $156,130 a year
- 164-11 Highland Ave., Queens, for households earning between $58,286 – $187,330 a year
- 1780 Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, for households earning between $82,252 – $187,330 a year
- 304 East 134th St., Bronx, for households earning between $68,572 – $156,130 a year
- 378 Weirfield St, Brooklyn, for households earning between $61,715 – $187,330 a year
