As the impact of climate change begins to register more dramatically around the world, the effect of rising global temperatures on the plant and animal world is a growing cause for concern. But the Amazon rainforest and the Alaskan tundra aren’t the only places where human activity will decide species’ fate. In New York City, a growing population encounters a complex and changing ecosystem, from coastal wetlands to vacant lots. Do the city’s laws and policies do enough to protect NYC’s flora and fauna? Is there a way to reconcile a growing population with an increasingly vulnerable natural world?
