The state budget deal for the fiscal year that began early this morning ties up a lot of the loose ends that policy wonks have been obsessed with during the last few weeks, like minimum wage, family leave and CUNY funding. But it doesn’t appear to have filled in the blanks surrounding Governor Andrew Cuomo’s $20 billion affordable housing initiative.
Filling in the blanks is also what’s going to happen soon on the East New York rezoning, where advocates and the city are jousting over what additional requirements for affordability and infrastructure investment can be baked into the zoning text. NYCHA filled in some blanks of its own earlier this week when it discussed its worsening fiscal picture.
