FYI: No matter how you look at it–by race, income or age–the much-discussed digital divide is quickly shrinking among American children, says a new Corporation for Public Broadcasting study. Sixty-five percent of all the kids between the ages of 2 and 17 that CPB surveyed had Internet access in 2002, either at home or in a public location like a school or library. Meanwhile, 55 percent of low-income kids had access, a dramatic jump from the 28 percent of low-income children with Internet access in 2000. The number of low-income households that owned a computer also jumped in that time, from 45 percent to 69 percent. [3/26/03]
