From Green Bay to Beloit, from Milwaukee to Madison, frome Brandon to Kenosha, Cheeseheads rejoiced following the Packers 31-25 Super Bowl victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers last night. As a descendant of a long line of Pack fanatics, I can tell you with certainty that Wisconsinites will revel in this moment for months, if not years. Dairyland might not as productive for the next few days, but it will definitely be happier.OK, back to the Bronx, where this relatively tropical weather (high of 42 degrees today!) will not last as temperatures will drop into the teens mid-week. We might see a small amount of rain/snow overnight. Story of the Day:Opponents of the city’s plan to shut down John F. Perry Ave. Medical Center was broken into sometime last night (Photos by R. Sander)By RACHEL SANDERA break-in was reported this morning at the Perry Avenue Family Medical Center, on Perry Avenue off of E. 204th Street. The thief or thieves made off with laptops, security cameras, medical supplies, and $80 to $90 in cash, according to Dr. Kishore Ahuja and his wife, Dr. Rita Ahuja, who have been running the center for the past 30 years and say they’ve never had any problems before. Sources say the robbery took place sometime last night.Phone lines at the facility were disconnected, cabinets were smashed, and doors were taken off their hinges. Televisions and desktop computers were not stolen, however, which lead Dr. Rita Ahuja to think that this may have been an act of vandalism by someone holding a grudge, she said. Police visited the center this morning, and detectives were on their way to investigate, the Ahujas said.
Usually, I enjoy my 25 minute walk to work every morning. Today, I skated, slipped and shimmied my way to the Keeper’s House, aka BxNN headquarters on the Williamsbridge Oval in Norwood. On the plus side, I was heartened by a team of folks helping a man pry his car out of an iced-in predicament and enjoyed seeing the sun hitting untouched patches of snow, making the surface look like glazed marshmallow frosting. Now, I’m hungry.Today’s forecast calls for clouds and a high of 34 degrees, with snow possible in the middle of the night and into Saturday morning. Super Bowl Sunday is supposed to be sunny and above freezing!
