Work about Staten Island’s approach to development, disabled artists and a bicyclist’s demise earned City Limits journalists honors from the Center for Community and Ethnic Media’s annual Ippies Awards.
Abigail Savitch-Lew won first place in “Best Story About a Community” for her in-depth story, “13 Years After Blocking New Development, Staten Island Hopes to Welcome Just Enough of It.”
David Brand won third place in “Best Social Issues Story” for his deeply nuanced article, “NYC’s Cultural Plan Spurs Disabled Artists in Fight for Roles and Respect.”
Adi-Talwar took home third place in the “Best Photograph” field for his haunting shot of a “ghost bike.”
The laurels continue a successful season for City Limits, which also won honors from the Society of the Silurains for our coverage of health disparities and awards from the New York Press Club for our investigative and political coverage.
